EIGHT VEHICLE CRASH ON INTERSTATE 75 IN SARASOTA COUNTY

EIGHT VEHICLE CRASH ON INTERSTATE 75 IN SARASOTA COUNTY

On October 22, 2021, at or about 11:30 AM, an eight-vehicle crash occurred on southbound Interstate 75 in Sarasota County near the Clark Road exit between Mile Markers 205 and 207. Per WWSB ABC 7, Florida Highway Patrol has reported that the accident happened when a semi-trailer hit seven other vehicles, resulting in one person being airlifted to a nearby hospital with significant injuries. The semi-truck that was hauling the trailer ended up on top of a four-door gray Toyota, and the crash scene has left all lanes of southbound I-75 shutdown for several hours.

When a personal injury or truck accident attorney looks at a semi-truck crash like this, they ask several questions: Was the driver inattentive at the wheel by using a cell phone? This can often be demonstrated by cameras within the semi-truck itself. Did he or she break other laws such as being on the road longer than 11 hours? Did they sleep enough the night before? Was the vehicle and its trailer maintained and/or inspected recently?

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those in our community and beyond who were affected by this recent truck accident in Sarasota County.
